Fourth Year In Review 2015-2016
God - Grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change, the courage to change the things i can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
My fourth year at UC taught me a lot. The transition from Fortune 50 branding culture at P&G to the humbling, fast-paced change agent called AMEND Consulting this year was magnificent. I've never felt more engaged at work and eager to wake up in the mornings. I entered into the "second phase" of student involvement on campus, from the busy go-go-go event planning and detail orientation to the more social and interactive honorary scene. I stepped up my involvement with the UC Athletics program and alumni network in the re-opening of Nippert Stadium and involvement in UC's Homecoming Week once again. Add these onto a pile of dozens of other experiences, and my fourth year wizzed by even faster than the first three.
The quote above helps me reflect upon some of my experiences over the past year. I realized throug my travels and co-op that the world is complex and connected in so many ways. There are so many different avenues that can be chosen to help pave the way forward in my life. My choice to move to AMEND Consulting was not an easy one, but has easily been the best one looking back on it. After accepting a full-time offer from the company, I am starting to truly believe that I am changing lives through my work and making the world a more positive place, one company, one team, one face at a time. I have the ability and the resources to affect change and improvement for so many people, including myself, and feel like I still have so much to learn, too.
As I continue building relationships and seeking new opportunities this year, I try to keep the quote above in mind. Nobody can help everyone, but everyone can help someone. Making a positive impact and finding fulfillment and joy in life is not all about finding prestige, glory, and recognition. It is just as much about the simple pleasures and moments that give a feeling of satisfaction and ease in my mind as it is about the awards and big-stage events.
